THE SAGAN SAGA CONTINUES AT THE TOUR DE SUISSE. Four of a kind for Slovakian champion

Sagan strikes again in sixth stage: 12th victory this season

Peter Sagan’s wins are never dull. After spectacular rides in the prologue, and the third and fourth stages of the Tour de Suisse, Liquigas-Cannondale’s Slovakian champion was on form again today to show how it’s done in the sixth stage (198 km from Wittnau to Bischofszell). Fourth win in six stages, his sixth in the Swiss stage race (equalling the record), his twelfth this season, and thirty-second as a pro rider. The numbers are just as impressive as the actions that seal his victories.

«The finishes in the Tour de Suisse are never straight so you need to invent something to find some space. » said Sagan. « I had to work harder today firstly to get a leading position in the finale, and secondly to launch the sprint. I went flat out into the last corner so I wouldn’t get boxed in and even brushed the barriers. I was blocked in that moment but as soon as Swift kicked, I knew I could come around and I did. I want to dedicate this win to the team who reeled in the breakaway at the end and make me feel important every day. We’ve now got two demanding stages to wrap up this Tour de Suisse. I want to make the most of them so I can work hard and improve my condition for the Tour de France. »
