Liquigas-Cannondale debuts in Tour of Britain with Basso and Caruso
Eight-stage race opens on Sunday



Liquigas-Cannondale has headed to Great Britain for the first time ever. The team is set to compete in the Tour of Britain, the British stage race, which runs from Sunday 9th to Sunday 18th September. The green and blue team has two goals: to be a main contender for the general classification and hunt down stage wins.



To succeed in its mission Liquigas-Cannondale has tasked Damiano Caruso with the job of targeting the overall standings, with invaluable support from Ivan Basso, while Paolo Longo Borghini, Fabio Sabatini and the two stagiaires, Marco Benfatto and Matthias Krizek, will battle it out for stage victory.



«Caruso showed that he’s in good condition in Colorado, and should find the right terrain in the Tour of Britain to validate his improvement. » explained Zanatta. «Although Basso’s primary objective will be to work and fine-tune his legs for the last Italian classics, his will provide an immensely important contribution. The other riders are on good form with plenty of race time under their belts so they can try and win some stages in addition to offering vital support. »
