Grand Prix de Québec and Montréal: time for Peter Sagan and Moreno Moser to shine
First race today, second on Sunday
Liquigas-Cannondale is ready for double duty in Canada. The green-blue team is competing in the two UCI WorldTour races with the Grand Prix de Québec today and the Grand Prix de Montréal on Sunday, 9th September. Peter Sagan and Moreno Moser have been selected to head up an experienced team in the two races which are expected to be demanding and nervous. DS Mario Scirea also has Valerio Agnoli, Timmy Duggan, Ted King, Kristijan Koren, Dominik Nerz and Juraj Sagan completing the line-up.
«These are two challenging and intriguing races with no room for distractions, » explained Sagan, «I can’t honestly say I’m in top form but I’ll do everything I can to pay them the respect they deserve. I needed time to get my breath back after the Tour so I could go into the end-of-season races with a better level of performance. Québec and Montréal are ideal for helping me to improve and particularly as tests in the run-up to the World Championships. »
«I aim to be competitive but I’m mindful that my legs haven’t had a lot of race time, » explained, Moser. «I struggled in Colorado partly because of the altitude and partly because I hadn’t raced for a month. The race was still useful though but here in Canada I’d like to see some confirmation that my condition is improving. I really hope to be in Valkenburg with the Italian team and I want to be as fit as possible when I get there. In this respect this trip to Canada is an important step forward. »
